QuickBooks Desktop – Unrecoverable Error.

Unrecoverable error occurs when any contact is added to a Vendor or Customer in QuickBooks Desktop.

Updated today

When adding a Contact to a Customer or Vendor in QuickBooks Desktop, an “Unrecoverable error” will occur when attempting to sync with Method.

📌 This is currently a bug on Intuit’s side, where adding any new Contact (Primary, Secondary, or Additional) to a Customer or Vendor in QuickBooks Desktop results in an Unrecoverable Error.

We are actively working with Intuit to get this issue resolved. In the meantime, to ensure uninterrupted syncing, please follow the instructions below to add contacts directly in Method instead of QuickBooks to avoid any issues.

Resolution

Removing the contact in QuickBooks Desktop resolves the issue.

📌 NOTE: Add or update contacts directly in Method, rather than in QuickBooks Desktop to avoid this error.

  1. Close your QuickBooks file.

  2. Keep the Method Integration Engine open and it will pop up a dialogue box similar to the one shown below:

  3. The dialogue box contains the Name of the Customer or Vendor causing the issue.

  4. Disconnect the Method Integration Engine from QuickBooks.

  5. View and export a list of your contacts so you can add them to Method.

    1. Go to Reports.

    2. Select Lists.

    3. Choose Customer Contact List or Vendor Contact List (both may be needed).

    4. Export them to PDF or Excel.

📌 NOTE: Please save the contacts info to later add in Method.

  6. Once you have a list of your contacts and associated customer, navigate to each customer, and select their Contacts tab.

  7. Select each contact, and under Manage Contacts, select Delete Selected Contact.

  8. Reconnect the Method Integration Engine to QuickBooks.

  9. If there is no error, add the exported list of contacts to Method.

If the unrecoverable error persists, continue removing contacts.

📌 NOTE: Creating and updating contacts in Method works without issue. In fact, contacts should only be created in Method for now.
