When displaying a list, or a grid, you may have a common sort order, column view, or search that you repeat every time you look at the grid. Custom Filter Views allow you to save this personal filter view and even share it with other Method users.
A custom filter view can save the following options:
Selected Filter View
Visible Columns
Sorting Criteria
Search Terms
Creating a Custom Filter View
In order to create a custom filter view, you will first need to set the list up to display what you want. Select a view filter, choose which columns you want visible, sort it, and specify search terms.
NOTE: In the below example, a custom grid viewing the Contacts table will be used. However, you can save your custom filter view on any editable grid.
Filter the exist grid by setting any or all of the following:
View filter
Search
Grid chips
Sorting
When you have your filters set up, select the Save as new view button that appears in the grid chip area.
You will be prompted for a name for your new view. Fill in a name which will appear in the filter view dropdown.
Click the checkbox to use it as the default view for this grid.
You will be asked if the view is just for yourself or shared with everyone. If shared with everyone, other users in the account will be able to use your custom view.
When you hit Save, your custom filter view is complete!
Editing a Custom Filter View
To edit a custom filter view, make sure that it is selected in the filter view.
Once selected, add or remove any parameters, and a Save changes button will appear in the grid chip area.
Alternatively, when viewing the filter views, you can select the Manage Views link. This will allow you edit all of your custom view filters.
Selecting a Custom Filter View
Once you have created a custom filter view, you can find and select it from the view filter in the upper left of a grid display.
The filter views will be separated into two different views:
My Views: These are all the custom filter views you have created. This including both individual and shared.
Standard Views: These are the views that comes stock with the app.
In the below image, underneath My Views, is the view "With Balance" created in the previous section.
Managing Custom Filter Views
When you have created custom filter views, you can manage them by selecting the Manage Views link in the view filters menu.
Doing so will display icons for each custom view if the Method User is an Administrator. This will allow the admin to manage custom filter views that belong to other users.
Edit: Edit the name and share permissions of the custom filter view.
Default: Set the filter view as the default view. The default view is the star filled in yellow.
Visibility: Hide or show the filter view in the view dropdown.
View Order: Click and drag a custom view filter to change the order of views in the view dropdown.
