Method Pay Reports

Where to find your payments, chargebacks, and deposits as well as understanding which report answers which question.

Method Pay gives you three reports in one place:

  • Payments: what your customers paid.

  • Deposits: what landed in your bank account.

  • Chargebacks: what your customers disputed.

Payments Report

The question it answers: What happened with this specific transaction?

The Payments report is the full record of every transaction processed through Method Pay, whether successful and not.

Use it when: a customer asks whether their payment went through, you need to void or refund something, or you're tracing a single transaction back to what you received.

Each row shows:

Payment Details

Clicking any payment opens a detail panel.

Depending on the status, a button at the top will give you the option to act on the payment.

  • Cancel (void) a payment if its status is Processing and before the daily cutoff. Voids are always for the full amount.

  • Refund a payment once its status is Succeeded, in full or in part.

Two important fields to pay attention to:

  • Billing fee: Amount billed to you (the Merchant).

  • Net to merchant: Amount that actually reaches you after fees.

Chargebacks Report

The question it answers: What's being disputed, and does it need me?

A chargeback happens when a customer disputes a charge directly with their card issuer or bank rather than coming to you. The disputed funds are held by the issuer while the case is reviewed. That's different from a refund, which you initiate.

The Chargebacks report is the queue of every dispute against your account and where you respond to them.

For more information on responding to chargebacks, see Handling Disputes in Method Pay.

Two things worth knowing up front:

  • The issuing bank makes the final call, and that can take up to 50 days.

  • A chargeback fee applies when the chargeback is created, regardless of how it's decided.

Use it when: you want to see what's open, respond before a deadline, or check where a dispute stands.

Deposits Report

The question it answers: Where's my money?

The Deposits report shows the real-time status of every deposit Method Pay sends to your bank. By default you receive one deposit per US banking day, covering all payments released that day.

Each deposit shows one of four statuses:

Status

What it means

Processing

The deposit has been initiated and is on its way.

Succeeded

Method Pay has sent the funds.

Failed

The deposit didn't go through.

In Review

The deposit is being reviewed before release.

Method Pay fees are netted out of each deposit rather than billed separately, so the deposit total won't match your invoice total. For more information, see How Method Pay fees are applied to transactions.

Use it when: a deposit hasn't shown up yet. If the status is Succeeded and the funds still aren't in your account, that's a timing question for your bank. If it's Failed or In Review, contact your Method Pay support contact.
