Time Tracking App Preferences

Setting up the preferences for the Time Tracking App.

Updated this week

The preferences for the Time Tracking app are used for options like time tracking approval and creating invoices from time tracking entries (QuickBooks Desktop only).

The preferences screen can be accessed from your dashboard by clicking on the vertical ellipsis [] on your Time Tracking App and selecting Preferences.

Depending on whether or not you have QuickBooks Online, or QuickBooks Desktop, the preferences screen will look different.

QuickBooks Online

  • Default Service Item: Set the default service item when a Time Tracking Entry is manually created.

  • Require Approval to Sync: If enabled, a Time Tracking entry must be approved before syncing to QuickBooks Online. For more information, see Set Up Time Tracking Approval.

QuickBooks Desktop

NOTE: If you're using time tracking entries for payroll (“Use time data to create paychecks” is ON in QuickBooks Desktop), you must also turn ONIs personal data access allowed?” field in QuickBooks Desktop. This allows Method to see the appropriate settings and avoid sending the time entries into conflict.
