How to add DNS Records to a GoDaddy Custom Domain

Updated over a week ago

Authenticating your domain involves publishing DNS records (CNAME) that establish your domain reputation to ensure optimal email deliverability.

NOTE: Adding new records as part of the domain authentication process will not impact your existing DNS settings. You are not going to change or modify existing records.

Once you have added your domain with Method, you will be given three DNS records to add to your domain in GoDaddy.

Log into GoDaddy

  1. Log into GoDaddy.

  2. If you have more than one domain, select the domain you want to authenticate within your Domain Portfolio.

  3. Select DNS.

Now, you have the ability to add new DNS records:

You will add three CNAME records.

Add CNAME Records

  1. Click Add New Record.

  2. A line of fields will show, and within it, you can copy and paste the values from Method. For the first record, select and choose CNAME from the Type dropdown.

  3. From Method, copy the first CNAME Host.

  4. In GoDaddy, paste what you copied into the Name field.

  5. From Method, copy Data.

  6. In GoDaddy, paste into the Value field.

  7. Now that you've added the first record, continue with the remaining CNAME records. Click Add More Records.

  8. Repeat the above steps to add the other two CNAME records. Once complete, it should look similar to this:

  9. Click Save All Records.

The your CNAME records have been added.
