Create an Engagement Letter Template

How to create your own template for your engagement letters.

Updated over a month ago

When creating a proposal in the Proposal app, you will get to the section where you will send out the terms for your proposal.

This is a letter generated from the selected Terms Engagement Letter Template. To edit or create your own template, expand the dropdown field and selecting the Add / Edit Template link. Alternatively, you can access this from the Proposals app itself, as explained in the next section.

View your Engagement Letter Templates

On the Method dashboard, select the vertical ellipsis button and select Engagement Letters.

This will take you to a list of your engagement letters.

You can create as many as you want by clicking โŠ• New Engagement Letter. To edit an engagement letter, find it in the grid, and select it. This will also allow you to duplicate an existing engagement letter.

Creating or Editing an Engagement Letter

On this screen, you can choose the Name for your engagement letter, as well as the Method User who will be responsible for it.

In the Engagement Letter text editor, update your engagement letter template to use for future proposals.

Note, however, that a template will replace merge fields to match the client you are sending to. These fields, listed below, must be typed in exactly as shown (although you can style it however you wish. This will allow you to make a generic template that will pull in the proper information from the client you send the proposal to.

  • Proposal.ContactsName: This will be replaced with the name of your contact.

  • Proposal.Customer: This will be replaced with the name of your contact's business making the proposal.

  • Proposals.ServiceSummary: This will list out the services you are providing as well as the descriptions for the services.

  • Proposals.ServicePriceSummary: This will list out the billing type and price for each item (Recurring, When Accepted, etc).

  • Proposal.StartDate: This will be replaced with the start date of the proposal.

  • Proposal.EndDate: This will be replaced with the end date of the proposal.

  • Company.CompanyName: This will be replaced with your company name.

Once you have saved your proposal letter, you can choose it from the dropdown when you get to the terms section.

Updating the Default Engagement Letter Template

If you have a template you would like to use by default, you can change this in the Proposal Apps preferences.

On this page, you can set the template you created to the default by updating the Terms Engagement Letter Template dropdown.

When complete, save the screen and your default template is updated.
