There are two common configurations for Method users who are using Office365 email server settings. 

  • Setting up each Method user's personal email settings
  • Setting up the Method account to use company settings email settings

Using Individual User Office365 Email Settings

The personal email preferences must be updated for this, as opposed to the company email settings. 

1. Click the Gear icon and choose Preferences.
2. Click Email on the left menu.
3. Under Personal Settings un-check the box 'Use company email settings' to bring up the following:

  • Email Server: smtp.office365.com
  • Email User Name: typically your full email address.
  • Email Password :the same password used to access your email.
  • Port: 587
  • Use SSL: Checked. This is a security feature common for email servers.
  • Click Save.

Click Test User Email Server Settings and wait for on-screen confirmation. 

Using Company Office365 Email Settings

If using the Company Settings for multiple Method users, you must make changes in both Method and the Office365 admin center. We will cover the changes in Method first, followed by those in Office365.

Log in To Method

1. Click the Gear icon and choose Preferences.
2. Click Email on the left menu.
3. Scroll down to Company Settings.

  • Email Server: smtp.office365.com
  • Email User Name: typically your full email address.
  • Email Password :the same password used to access your email.
  • Port: 587
  • Use SSL: Checked. This is a security feature common for email servers.

Click Test Company Email Server Settings and wait for on-screen confirmation.

Log in To Office365

Remember, using company settings for multiple Method users requires additional steps within Office365 to be completed by a 365 user with admin permissions.

  1. Log into the Office365 as Admin.
  2. Navigate to the Admin Center.
  3. Click Users then Active Users.
  4. Select the user with matching email as the one currently being set up in Method.
  5. Under the user profile expand Mail Settings then edit mailbox permissions.
  6. Add the email address used in Method Company Setting under Send as.
  7. Click Save.
