Add a Kanban board to a customized Opportunities List

If you've customized your Opportunities List screen, add your own Pipeline board in the Builder.

The standard Opportunities List now has a Pipeline tab that shows your opportunities as a Kanban board, grouped by stage. See Using the Pipeline view.

If your account has a customized Opportunities List screen, it keeps your version, so the Pipeline tab isn't added automatically. You can build the same kind of board on your own screen with the Kanban board component in the Builder.

Add the board

  1. In the Builder, open your customized Opportunities List screen.

  2. Add a Kanban board component to the screen.

  3. In the component's properties, under Columns, choose the Opportunity table and group the columns by the opportunity stage.

  4. Under Card fields, choose what each card shows: Name, Customer, Amount, Assigned to and Close date.

Open the opportunity when a card is clicked

Under Board events, open Card click and add one action:

  1. Add a Go To Screen action.

  2. Set Navigate to to Opportunities and the New / Edit Opportunity screen.

  3. Set Open In to Use Account Preference.

  4. Under Set a screen Active RecordID, choose Set Active RecordID. For Use this Active RecordID, choose the board's RecordID. This tells the screen which opportunity to open.

  5. Set After navigation to Keep this screen in currently open list.

Update the opportunity when a card is moved

Under Board events, open Drag/Move and add these actions, in this order. Together they save the new stage, recalculate the probability and pipeline amount, and set the close date when the opportunity is closed.

  1. Add a Retrieve Values From Table action to get the new stage's details:

    • Select a table: OpportunityStage.

    • Where: the OpportunityStage field equals the board's OpportunityStage. This is the column the card was dropped into.

    • If multiple results retrieve: First.

    • Field(s) to retrieve: put OpportunityStageCategory - Display in an action result named resultStageCategory, and StageProbabilityPercent in an action result named resultStageProbabilityPercent.

  2. Add another Retrieve Values From Table action to get the opportunity's amount:

    • Select a table: Opportunity.

    • Where: the RecordID field equals the board's RecordID. This is the card that was moved.

    • If multiple results retrieve: First.

    • Field(s) to retrieve: put Amount in an action result named resultAmount.

  3. Add a Math Functions action to work out the new pipeline amount:

    • Select a function: Multiply.

    • Multiply resultAmount by resultStageProbabilityPercent.

    • Rounding: Round Closest, to 2 decimal places.

    • Store result in: an action result named resultUpdatedPipelineAmount.

  4. Add a second Math Functions action to turn the percent into an amount:

    • Select a function: Divide.

    • Divide resultUpdatedPipelineAmount by 100.

    • Rounding: No Rounding.

    • Store result in: resultUpdatedPipelineAmount.

  5. Add a Conditional Statement action to check whether the new stage is a closed one. Set it to run if All of the following are true: resultStageCategory Contains the text Closed.

  6. Inside If...then, add an Update Fields In Table action for closed stages:

    • Select a table: Opportunity.

    • Update records where: the RecordID field equals the board's RecordID.

Field(s) to update, with the value for each:

    • OpportunityStage: the board's OpportunityStage (the column the card was dropped into).

    • CloseDate: Current Date / Time.

    • ProbabilityPercent: resultStageProbabilityPercent.

    • ExpectedRevenue: resultUpdatedPipelineAmount.

  7. Inside Else, add another Update Fields In Table action for open stages. Set it up the same way, but leave out CloseDate:

    • OpportunityStage: the board's OpportunityStage (the column the card was dropped into).

    • ProbabilityPercent: resultStageProbabilityPercent.

    • ExpectedRevenue: resultUpdatedPipelineAmount.

📌 Note: The above has no actions to take into account converting a lead to a customer when an opportunity is moved to Closed Won.

For every setting the component offers, including column headers that show a record count and a total, and filter views such as Active Opportunities, see Kanban board component.
